Originally set up by Fleming & Howland Ltd. the Chesterfields Trade Association, is a company limited by guarantee incorporated in England under number 09643626 for the sole purpose of regulating the Chesterfields Certification of UK origin. It does not produce furniture itself but promotes and defends the design heritage of Chesterfield furniture dating back to circa 1780.
The association also operates to ensure that new Chesterfield products comply with other quality related regulations and are made to the appropriate high standards that honouring this heritage demands.
The Chesterfield Certification seeks to characterise the key indications of what makes Chesterfield sofas true to the Chesterfield design heritage, so that the name can be displayed proudly as a quality endorsement.
